Part-time Math and Literacy Tutors
Every student deserves the right support at the exact moment they need it. We directly fund specialized tutors to give students the targeted attention standard school budgets miss.

Garden to Table
Our school garden program helps children to connect with nature, grow food and learn science. Parents can volunteer for classroom sessions or other garden maintenance.
Club & Activities Support
Our PTO pitches in funds to keep these fun after-school activities available for all like Sewing, Cartooning, Chess, Choir, Shakespeare, Battle of the Books, Curious Cougar News, Student Council, and more.
Teacher Grant Program
Our PTO created our own teacher grant program that funds extra classroom materials, special projects, and hands-on activities that bring learning to life. We also run Teacher Appreciation Week to thank the amazing heroes who teach our kids every day.
Community Events & More
From our Fall Laps for Lafayette to the Winter Read-a-thon and Spring Cougar Carnival, the PTO hosts fun community events that bring parents, caregivers, and families together. These exciting traditions not only raise vital funds but also build a strong, connected school community where everyone belongs!

PTO Frequently asked questions
What does PTO mean?
PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization. We are a Lafayette community to support kids at Lafayette Elementary in Lafayette, CO.
As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are a passionate community of parents, teachers, grandparents, administrators, and local leaders devoted to the success of our students. We fund experiences that inspire, teacher support that matters, and hands on learning that is outside of the student’s desks.
How do I volunteer?
We want to make the work of this small, mighty nonprofit work for our parents and our school – but it will take more of us to make that happen.
We need parents and teachers who are willing to take charge of specific areas for the 2026/2027 school year.

I’m so busy—how can I still support without getting roped in?
We get it—your calendar’s packed, your to-do list is long, and the last thing you need is a surprise volunteer assignment. We feel the same way. We also know how rewarding it is to show up for 1 hour at the school and the feelings of joy service and connection produces. Reach out to us to give a little time here and there. We promise you those service endorphins.
